so WordPress might be the best platform to make a micro site after all. lets test the tags and words as abberdeflap
As a parent we learn our children that it is cool to use the computer. So when you are 3, you are playing a Winnie the Pooh-game, and when you’re 5 you will start surfing the Internet. Then it’s tike for a mobile phone when you are 8, a MSN messenger tag when you are 10 and you will open your own blog at Myspaces, LiveSpace or Hyves when you are 12. Kids are being digitalised and we like it. It is the future and the way they combine media and digital tools even make us proud.
We also explain them that there are many lunatics on the Web and that they should never, ever give their real name, phonenumbers or adress. And they listen wll because the trend is now that everybody has another identity on the Internet. And it’s als becoming more and more fun to be more then one somebody else. So MasterBlaster is FantasyGirl is Nomore is Notshy. Databases are filled with all these names and tags. For marketeers something to realise that 1.000.000 names in your community website might sounds good to your sponsors, but if you check IP adresses as well, you will discover that maybe 25% is a double identity. I think that the upcoming trend of a fake-identity will make it more difficult for us as marketeers to know who our on-line vistors are. There is only one solution for a company apperance; be real, and you will get back what you are!
Working as a consultant in the advertising industry means you need to keep your eyes open for new succesfull ways to promote a brand. That’s the reason why a client hires you and you need to help him to makes choices. The latest hype was, or is? Narrowcasting. This is a network of tv screens on places where people come. Like in the MacDonalds. You can watch videoclips, that’s nothing new, but then, tatatarataaaa, you see a commercial of McDonalds! Yeeeh, that’s clever, you are already eating a Big Mac and you see another commercial about a hamburger. Or a salade. The Narrowcasting agencies can now measure how many times a commercial has been seen and how big the audience is. It’s tv advertising on the spot, right where the prospect is. Sounds clever, but is not. Also supermarkets and even bars are infected with the Narrowcasting virus. Imagine you are in a hurry, and then they really think you have the time to watch television in a supermarket. No way, they can hang the screens at the meat department, but all you want is meat. No commercials, I really don’t believe you will watch tv. I’ve even seen tv-screens hanging at the counter where people are standing in line. An even dumber place, because if you see something you like, you will not leave the cue to buy it. So to make my point, narrowcasting is not going to make it. It’s a package-deal of the industry between media-agencies and the audiovisual industry. Sony/Samsung/LG etc. will sell lots of extra screens, special narrowcasting companies will take away money from traditional advertising (what’s wrong with a door to door flyer?) and everybody is happy. But after one year, maybe two, the screens will be eating dust or showing MTV. A hype that is doomed to fail. A better hype is web-television; let’s talk about that the next time.
Believe me; I was the first to tell my friends they had to use Google. I bought the book and I loved it. And of course I am still using it to look up stuff. Now these noble guys thought it was a good idea to offer every idiot with a website the possibility to place a link for AdSense and all those other little Google ads. A nice idea with catastrofal implications! Every webiste with some audience is now showing Google ads on their homepage. Aaaaargh!! Even a dumb local cinema website shows this evening more Google ads then simple information I was looking for: what are the movies they are playing?! Maybe they get 3 cents for it, I don’t know. But I will never go back to this websites again because they don’t keep the focus on their own business anymore, but more on ‘how to make money with Google’. It’s Google everywhere; stupid little irritating ads for companies you don’t want to think about or have ask for if you are looking on a website that for sure has already got the information that I want. I may sound a bit frustrated and that’s right. But only because I cannot program a plug-in that I can install in my browser that will clear the Google information on the website I am visiting. But I can steal a bit from an old Firefox viralmovie and make my point in a little video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08tfO5V0ZmI
Oh irony, placed on YouTube, owned by what was the name of that company again?

okay, this is a weblog written by a non-native english speaker, so excuse my bad french, but I truly believe that the world has come to a point that when you can connect with anybody, anywhere, from Albania till Zimbabwe, you need an universal language too. With my Dutch background and being a resident of France, it makes sense to write this blog in English. I think. Anyway, enjoy my mind about the world that I love and sometimes hate. Advertising.
